GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG, 13th. December, 1911.

I have the honour to inform you that Captain

F. W. Lyons, Deputy Superintendent of Police, has requested that

he may be allowed to retire at an early date from the Public

Service and to enclose particulars of the period of his service

in this Colony. In order to expedite the decision as to the

amount of pension to which he is entitled I have requested the

Governments of the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States

to forward direct to your office particulars of his service there.

I have to report under Colonial Regulation

No. 100 that I have granted Captain Lyons 33 days vacation leave, to begin on 13th. instant, to which he is in the ordinary course

entitled by service. Leave Certificate is enclosed.

3.

I enclose a letter dated 21st. November in

which he asks that at the expiration of this leave he may be granted in addition two months half-pay leave. This request is

contrary to the provisions of Colonial Regulations 86 and 100 and

I cannot therefore recommend it.

4.

So soon as the amount of pension is decided

upon I shall be glad if instructions may be issued to Crown Agents
